| Isithebe was established as part of the government's decentralised industrial area programme to provide employment in the more rural areas of South Africa. The industrial node continues to provide employment to the people living in | the area and although there are challenges in having a factory so far from a major city (Durban) Metalix is committed to staying in the area. Unemployment is very high and a working person supports up to 10 others. |
